the delish (from the time before blog)
When we go out to taste something new, or return to a beloved place, I find myself becoming especially animated and giddy and smiley. I delight--just delight!--in creative, well-crafted, very good food. Usually the type that I did not cook!
As I imagine myself sinking under the surface than very good food going forward in thisdelishlife, I'm snaring memories of favored meals from Seattle and Pittsburgh--the cities I most love. Ice cream from Millie's (Pittsburgh), homemade pickles on a Frankuary brunch plate (Pittsburgh), the best pieorgies you've ever had at Apteka (Pittsburgh), to painted hills beouf from The Whale Wins (Seattle), to roasted carrots at the surprise world-class DERU Market (Kirkland/Seattle)... both cities are edgy, creative, places to eat--and I have (believe it or not) many more memories than pictures.
I am convinced life isn't complete until one tries Belgium waffles with Nutella from Wafflonia , peanut noodles from The Zenith and duck tacos from Taku (all Pittsburgh). While in Seattle, one should not miss tamales from La Panderia (pop-up in Olympic Sculpture Garden), pizza from Delancey, and teriyaki chicken from Izumi, cocktails from The Pomegranate, schwarma from the Gyros place in Woodinville, and burgers at the Feed Co. Hard not to look forward and drool at what tastes come next.
